It has been more than a year since the trend of animal print came back into the world of fashion. Personally, I like them because they are classy, and kind of fierce and edgy. You can toss an animal print into your basic outfit and boom, it like creates a focal point to your look. I am no fashion expert though, just a disclaimer, haha!
In the Bible, we actually have one person who went WAY ahead of us and wore an animal “print.” John the Baptist, Jesus’ cousin, wore camel’s hair. John the Baptist wore what??!!!
In Matthew 3:4 it says “John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist.” Wow. Genuine fashionisto. In other translations of the Bible it says that his garments were woven from coarse camel hair. I’m not sure if I’d include that as an animal print but it was definitely the new fad next to the outdated woven fig leaves.
As for John the Baptist, my favorite Biblical account of him was when he said in John 3:30, “He must become greater; I must become less.” (He, pertaining to Jesus) Jesus was already starting his ministry at this time when people started stirring questions up to John the Baptist about him getting outdated and overshadowed by Jesus. But John understood that Jesus IS above all. Jesus must increase, John must decrease. John was never an envious cousin. His heart was for Jesus his Lord.
Here’s some of my animal print items.
